
Drop chains are often used when there is only one lifting point on the load. They’re useful for keeping the load closer to the hook for more control.
They’re commonly used for things like concrete skips, boat skips, lifting forks, etc. Each of these only has one lifting point.

But spreader beams also accommodate drop chains for lifting things like shuttering, where there are more than two lifting points on the load. The drop chains can be positioned wherever the lifting points are.
