You’ll see skips everywhere in civvy street. In gardens, driveways, on the road, etc. So you’ll know they get used to get rid of waste. Well, you can imagine that building sites produce a lot of waste from excess materials.
The difference on building sites is that skips can’t always be put where needed by the skip lorry, so they have to be lifted around by cranes. They might need to go right up the top of a 50 floor building.
They’re not only used for ridding waste on building sites. Skips are also useful containers for transporting tools or materials around site.
Skips have lifting eyes that the crane’s chains get hooked onto. The skips shouldn’t get lifted around sites using the lugs that the skip lorries use to put them on the wagons.
