Cherry pickers carry people in their cradle and lift them far and high, as opposed to their similar counterparts, scissor lifts, that only take people up vertically.
They have motored wheels, so they can be driven on safe ground, operated both from the cradle and from the ground.
But where they can’t be driven to, cranes lift them into position.
In construction, cherry pickers are commonly used by steel erectors. They’re great for manoeuvring people into awkward places.
Slingers should not assume that certain parts of the machine can be used for attaching chains for slinging. They also shouldn’t assume that all scissor lifts get slung the same way. Each manufacturer has their own designed ways of lifting these machines, which will be specified in their manuals.
To operate the machines, an IPAF ticket is required.
