Cranes use wire bonds to keep the hook block and crane ropes above any structures when lifting close to those structures. This could be anything from lifting through holes cut into concrete to installing facades on the face of a building.
If a crane’s ropes or hook block rub against or bang against structures, it could damage the structure or the crane’s components.
The wire bonds come in different lengths, so it’s important to know the height of the building or structure to be cleared.
It’s important to note that using wire bonds to carry out lifts is much more difficult for crane drivers, and operating in windy conditions can cause more problems.
Below are cranes using long wire bonds to install facades.
