Single-use slings – otherwise known as one-time slings – usually arrive on construction sites already attached to loads that are to be unloaded from lorries. Once each load gets taken off the lorry, the slings should be cut and discarded immediately.
This is because every lifting accessory has a certificate somewhere. Each delivery on site could have 50 or more pairs of slings on. For the company taking the delivery to obtain every cert would be very time consuming and expensive. Accessories are not permitted to be used without such certs.
Hence why these slings only get used to unload, before being discarded.
Rebar deliveries are a common use for single-use slings.
