This telehandler is having a nice lie down.
When the operator was in the cab, the bank started giving way, but the machine didn’t tip by that point. The operator got out safely.
It was when the recovery company was winching the telehandler down the track that it tipped. Oopsie.
Lucky that it didn’t tip while the driver was in it.
I’ve had a couple of machine tips myself. I once tipped a dinosaur of a mini dumper forwards into a trench when pouring concrete into a big square hole. In my defence, I’d been called in to help while on paternity leave, having barely slept all week. Lesson learnt.
I also tipped a mini digger over while pulling a tree root out on someone’s driveway. Usually I could catch these machines from tipping if I felt them going, but this digger was very narrow based and top heavy.
I instinctively stuck my leg out, then whipped it back in just in time before it got crushed.
Bonus Faux Pas
This video was kindly donated. The person put this 12t bow shackle out of service. It’s likely that the thread is worn or it has the wrong pin. Probably the latter.
It proves that shackles should not be stored without the pins inserted, otherwise they can get mixed up.
